1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Moonshot.la LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Orbital ("the Service"), a personal relationship management application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with care.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture. If you sign up with email and password, we store a securely hashed version of your password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information from Google.

Contact Data

When you connect your Google account, we access your Google Contacts (via the Google People API) with your explicit permission. This includes contact names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, and profile photos. We also access Gmail metadata (read-only) to help surface communication patterns. We do not read the content of your emails.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use Orbital, including which contacts you organize into orbits, ring assignments, and interaction with the application. This data is used solely to provide and improve the Service.

Technical Data

We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, including your IP address, browser type, device information, and access timestamps. This data is used for security, debugging, and service improvement.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Orbital service
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Import and display your contacts within the application
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)
  • Improve and develop new features for the Service
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the Service

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your contact data with other users.

4. Google API Services

Orbital's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only request access to data that is necessary for the Service to function
  • We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements
  • We do not allow humans to read your data unless required for security purposes, to comply with law, or with your explicit consent
  • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Service

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication tokens, and hashed passwords. While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Data Sharing

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: With trusted third-party services that help us operate Orbital (e.g., database hosting, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of Moonshot.la LLC, our users, or the public

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. When you delete your account, we immediately and permanently remove all your data, including your contacts, orbitals, notes, uploaded files, social signal data, and connected service records. Cached or backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion. We may also retain data where required by law.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile
  • Revoke third-party access (e.g., disconnect Google) at any time
  • Export your data in a portable format

9. Cookies

Orbital uses essential cookies to manage authentication sessions and invite access. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

Orbital is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Continued use of Orbital after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
